WWU Alma Clark Glass Residence Hall
Blythe was selected as the mechanical design build contractor for the New Residence Hall (later renamed Alma Clark Glass) at Western Washington University, in August 2019. Blythe participated as part of the design team to engineer the mechanical and plumbing systems and develop the for construction mechanical plans. Blythe participated in the integrated BIM process for each system to produce a fully coordinated model from which the IFC plans were derived. As a member of the design team Blythe participated in a target value approach to manage escalation costs and offered value engineering design options for cost reduction.
High efficiency HVAC systems include Heat Recovery ventilators and steam heating coils for ventilation with VRF units in the mechanical, electrical, and utility spaces. Plumbing systems with highly efficient water reducing fixtures were designed and constructed to serve this seven-story, four-hundred unit residence hall including common spaces, utility areas, and restrooms.
