Our Company

With over 115 years of satisfied customers behind us, we continue to look forward to the next service opportunity.

The mission of Blythe Mechanical Inc is to provide superior mechanical service and construction in a friendly, courteous, cost-effective manner so that our customers receive the best product and service for their dollar.

Since its inception in 1904, Blythe has offered plumbing and piping services to clients throughout the Pacific Northwest. Whether the project is a large industrial facility or small commercial office building,

Blythe has the knowledge and skill to design, build, and install appropriate plumbing, piping and HVAC systems for the customer’s application.

In addition, careful scrutiny of existing systems allows for efficient and cost effective upgrades. In the 1980’s Blythe diversified and became a full service mechanical contractor, adding HVAC, sheet metal, and commercial refrigeration to its work scope in order to better serve its customers. With our staff of professional engineers, experienced project managers, and talented and dedicated installation crews, Blythe has expertise in all aspects of the mechanical construction industry.

Blythe has earned the respect and loyalty of our customers for our ability to select and install the appropriate systems for their needs.

Blythe performs new construction, remodel, repair and service for a wide range of mechanical systems. History + Vision

Family owned in Whatcom County for over 100 years

Arthur (A.J.) Blythe, a skilled plumber, moved to Bellingham in 1903. In 1904 he became a partner with his employer, and the business of Christopher and Blythe was begun. A.J. Blythe took on a new partner when Christopher left the business, and the company was renamed Dupar-Blythe. A.J. Blythe later became sole owner and renamed the business A.J. Blythe Plumbing & Heating Company.

Steward Blythe, A.J.’s son, joined the family business in the 1930’s, and later purchased it from his father. The business was then incorporated as Blythe Plumbing & Heating, Inc. Stew Blythe sold his business to David Siden and D.C. Morse, Jr. in 1974, and D.C. Morse became the primary owner after Dave Siden retired in 1992. In the 1980’s Blythe expanded from its historical business for plumbing and piping, and added HVAC, sheet metal, and commercial refrigeration to its work scope in order to better serve its customers.

David Morse III and other members of management purchased the business in 2003 from Dave’s father, D.C.

As we look to the future, we must continue to proactively take the necessary actions to be the mechanical contractor of choice for existing customers and new customers we look forward to serving.

In order to do this, we hold on to our past history of long standing customer service and envision an exciting future where we adopt appropriate new technologies, attract and employ expert field workers and support staff, provide timely responses to every customer question or concern, and we know we must constantly continue to earn our reputation for providing quality, on time, and cost effective design, installation, and service work for our valued customers.

As we expand and grow, we also remember our motto from years past, “no job too big or too small”. From designing and building a large new project to repairing a faucet in the house next door, we have the knowledge and manpower to take on any project.
