Phillips 66 Refinery Operations Center
(formerly Conoco Phillips)

Blythe was awarded the mechanical subcontract for this 138,000 square foot multi-story facility which was certified LEED® Silver by the US Green Building Council. The project features natural ventilation throughout the office and common areas, steam heat exchangers for hydronic heating and potable hot water, two floors of biology laboratory space with a separate, isolated HVAC system, a vivarium with a steam powered cage washer, an audiology lab space, and classroom space for approximately 750 students. The mechanical space located on the roof includes: chillers, air handlers, a humidifier, and extensive piping systems, while the basement level mechanical space contains the steam pressure reducing station for heat exchangers for building heating, domestic hot water, and all related ancillary equipment.

Blythe provided additional engineering support in designing the provisions for the thermal expansion and contraction of the steam piping and combustion engine exhaust piping.  In addition, WWU hired Blythe to examine and recommend improvements to the fuel-oil storage and delivery system. These recommendations were incorporated into the project. Blythe completed the project on time and on budget with no time loss injuries.
