U.S. Food and Drug Administration Laboratory
The FDA Bothell Laboratory renovation was a design build project administered by the GSA. Blythe provided complete mechanical design and construction for the new laboratory and adjacent administrative spaces. The scope included a renovation of existing office space into approximately 3,000 sqft microbiology and 1,100 sqft chemistry labs. All necessary infrastructure including laboratory utilities, laboratory waste, lab gasses, RODI water, ventilation and humidity control were brought into the new two story build out. Additional support systems for autoclave clean steam generation, and an expansion of the building DDC system to support the new lab spaces, were also provided. Climate control in the labs is provided through a 100% outside air rooftop air handler featuring a steam humidifier and dehumidification, airflow control valves, hydronic heating and chilled water coils. The project was performed in an operating facility and included phased installation, with an aggressive schedule that was met by the contracting team with turnover to the owner on time.
